All You Should Know About Asia Cup 2023 Super Four Matches

by Sportsdab

Colombo, Sri Lanka, will host the Super Four stage of the 2023 Asia Cup following a two-day break due to the absence of any planned games on September 7 and September 8. At the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the opening game of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 stage. The Super Four stage will resume on September 9 with Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, following a two-day pause (September 7 and 8).

The Asia Cup’s Super 4 stages will follow the original schedule, with all of the games taking place in Colombo. Concerns over the matches taking place in Colombo, which has been experiencing a lot of rain, have existed ever before India’s Group B match against Pakistan was cancelled last Saturday in Pallekele. The Pakistan Cricket Board agreed to the Sri Lanka Cricket’s suggestion to move the event to Hambantota. However, because India has continued to express reluctance to travel to Hambantota, the last match of the Super 4 stage and the other five matches will take place in Colombo as scheduled. Asia Cup Super Four stage has the schedules as follows-

Bangladesh vs Pakistan (6th September)

In the Super 4 Asia Cup encounter on Wednesday, Haris Rauf’s four-wicket haul and top-notch strikes from Mohammad Rizwan and Imam Ul Haq helped Pakistan defeat Bangladesh by seven wickets. Pakistan lost the early wickets of Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam while attempting to chase down 194, but Imam and Rizwan scored 78 and 63* runs, respectively, to help their team reach the goal in just 39.3 overs.

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka (9th September)

On Saturday, September 9, the second Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2023 pits Bangladesh against Sri Lanka. The game will be played in Colombo, although weather is predicted to interfere. Bangladesh was defeated by the Lankans earlier in the competition. Unfortunately, Najmul Hossain Shanto’s hamstring injury will keep him out of action for the remainder of the competition for Bangladesh. He now has the most runs scored in the competition (193 runs at an average of 96.50). The batting lineup for Bangladesh hasn’t previously been able to compete with Pakistan and Sri Lanka’s calibre. It would be interesting to see if they can hold their own this time against Sri Lankan bowlers.

India vs Pakistan (10th September)

On Sunday, September 10, the Super Four match between India and Pakistan will take place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. India scored 266 in 48.5 overs in the first matchup between the two sides in this Asia Cup, however, the game was called after just one innings. In a recent development, the Asian Cricket Council has added a reserve day for the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan on Sunday.

These matches are followed by

India vs Sri Lanka (12th September)
